This flashback is used to describe the lifestyle Emily has been living for the past years and also the appearance that Emily has taken on as a result of staying in the house. Emily's hereditary obligations that she had to the town are shown in the flashback of her buying arsenic from the druggist. The druggist tells Emily that by law she must say what the poison is for. Emily only gives him a stern look and is given the poison. Emily’s influence of the townspeople and the respect they have for her is shown in this scene. Faulkner's usage of flashback .....

.... death. This next paragraph is by far the harshest. The voices are that of the town's people who say this child was helpless. His death was felt as the only alternative to some. He was called "a black cloud full of storms too hot for keeping". Just as in Mother Nature the people felt that this child could not be controlled. The following line however is one of the most emotional. It talks of how his mother still weeps for her dead child. This is a reaction of any mother who cared for her child. These people have to see her weep, yet still talk of a horrid child. This is an unjustifiable act on their part. The paragrap .....

If others feel that an action is worthy or noble they will acknowledge the person’s conscious choice of the action and see they receive due reward. Perhaps the reason Blanche chose illusion rather than reality is because of her somewhat troubled past. When Blanche was 16 she married Alan who was 17. The impression we get of Alan is that of an attractive, gentle and kind young man. However, he had a somewhat feminine quality about him. Blanche soon finds out that he is involved in a homosexual relationship by catching him in the act. Blanche expresses her disgust and soon after Alan commits suicide by shooting himself. Already traumatized, the situation grew quic .....

.... Buck was in the lead just inches behind the prey, when Spitz took a shortcut and jumped on Buck. It was a life and death struggle, Buck was bigger, Spitz was skilled. In the End Bucks shear strength prevailed. Once the job was done, Buck was under a new owner. The duty was not to get the fastest time but to pull the most. It was grueling, heavy work each day. The team soon grew tired and slow, it was boring work and Buck hated it. The Driver promised rest as soon as they finished. Unfortunately the government decided to sell tired dogs instead of resting them. The new drivers when Hal and Charles. They where inexperienced gol .....

.... directions. This play made me think about how people with disabilities are treated. I had always thought that in the thirties and forties, being disabled was not accepted. But after reading this play, I am starting to think that I might be wrong after all, because Laura seemed not to be treated any differently as a result of her disability. What surprised me about this play, was the fact that Jim was not married to Emily Meisenbach, his high school sweet heart. The way that he was presented by Laura's memory, I thought that for sure he would be married to Emily. But on the other hand, he is engaged to Betty, so he must really be .....

.... abate it. Macbeth had risked his life to attain the throne and he had no choice but to employ Machiavellian practices to retain it. The appearance of Banquo’s ghost at the royal banquet horrifies Macbeth. Shakespeare brilliantly uses irony to make Banquo’s emergence very dramatic: (III, i, ll 28-29) Banquo’s appearance provides insight into the character of Macbeth. It shows the level that Macbeth’s mind has recessed to. His morality is declining and although he is battling his conscience, the evil forces have overcome his every thought and action. Banquo’s ghost only appears to Macbeth and it represents his extreme guilt .....

.... of the witches. Banquo resists any thoughts that might hasten the witches‘ prophecy that his children will be kings. Lady Macbeth, however, strengthens her husband to kill the king and they accomplish it. When the murder is discovered, the king’s sons, Malcolm and Donalbain, seeing a similar fate for themselves, flee Scotland. Macbeth proceeds to Scone, where he is crowned as Duncan’s successor to the throne. Banquo half-suspects Macbeth of Duncan’s murder but accepts an invitation at the new king’s fiest and attends it with his son Fleance. Macbeth employs two murderers to kill both in an attemp .....
