In Richard II, Richard bankrupts the country with his blatant mismanagement and his excessive spending on his 'favourites', who are already rich aristocrats, while ignoring the common people who are living in poverty. Paradoxically, he is often filled with a sense of loss, though the content of that loss is not clearly spelled out. There are, at most, references to the style and climate of the 1960s, a past that Boku tends to estheticize into an indulgent, wistful nostalgia. Lucky wants to satisfy Pozzo with menial acts of obedience (according to Pozzo's own explanation of Lucky's actions), while Pozzo seems quite apathetic to Lucky's deeds and plights. However, in the second act, Pozzo needs Lucky to exist, because Pozzo is blind. Perhaps this is similar to the theory that God would not exist if man did not believe in Him. Pozzo and Lucky are easily compared as the oppressed masses and the wealthy oppressors. If Beckett is trying to be a social critic, he could be saying that the oppressed are dumb and moo .....

Act 3 scene 2 line 106“you all did love him once, not without cause, what cause withholds you then to mourn for him.” Anthony says this to remind the crowd that they all once loved Caesar and that he was a good man that cared .....

When in reality, the Geats were doing as much killing as the dragon, and their killing was probably less justifiable than the dragons, considering the dragon was fighting for his own survival. In this case though the dragon was killing in a rage, over his missing treasure. Nevertheless, the Geats see the dragon as pure evil. .... reactions are caused partially by the extreme contrast of environment between the two novels. Another factor is the different degrees of conscientiousness and its importance between the novels. Hester and Dimmesdale repent and seek forgiveness for their sins. They use their experience to make them better people, and by the end of the novel, both find themselves free of guilt. On the other hand, the characters in The Great Gatsby show no remorse for their actions and the pain they cause. No attention is paid to the feelings of others. Tom and Daisy have a daughter together, but she is hardly mentioned amongst their promiscuity .....

Last to die was Laertes, it is easily seen how laertes, in the heat of his anger could conspire to murder, though he kills hamlet he is avenging his fathers' death, an act, with reference to the moral climate of the 1600’s. Therefore it is condoned. Laertes in his attempt to kill, loses his life by the very poison that was to kill his enemy. Hamlet dies on a poison tipped sword but not till he has killed Claudius and ridded Elsinore of its plague. S .....

.... up all his money in hopes of buying back his wife and children when he becomes a free man. He expresses that he feels terrible for leaving behind his family and misses them very much. As a result, Huck feels responsible and guilty for ruining Jim’s freedom. Huck decides that he wants to reveal the truth, that Jim really isn’t a free man. His conscience tells him not to and instead he finds himself helping Jim rather than giving him up. Jim feels so thankful to Huck when he says ". . .it’s all on account of Huck, I’s a free man, ... you’s the best friend Jim’s ever had...” Even further alo .....
