In The Glass Menagerie Jim is used exactly like Chris. Jim is used to show the coming of Laura’s character. Not only were Knox’s character and the character of Laura similar in both the works, but Todd from "DPS" and Tom from The Glass Menagerie are also shown to be similar. Todd kept a certain mystery about him throughout the work, as well as Tom. Tom would go to the movies and keep to himself except for some outbursts of speech .....

Laura appears to find solace in playing the same records over and over again, day after day. Perhaps the music floating up to the apartment from the dance hall is supposed to be her escape, which she just can't take. Often in the play the music from the Paradise Dance Hall is the background music for the scenes. The Glass Menagerie playing quite frequently. At this point none of Horatio, Hamlet or Marcellus are certain whether the Ghost had come bearing evil or good sentiments.
