Papers on Society and Social Issues
Sexual Harassment
Number of words: 1213 | Number of pages: 5.... has become such an issue due to the large number of
cases presented. When Anita Hill, law professor at the University of Oklahoma,
brought allegations of sexual Zaccarello 2 harassment against Supreme Court
Justice Clarence Thomas, the whole world started listening. This case was "the
most celebrated sexual harassment case of our time," according to Martha
Chamallas, and "Hill's revelations prompted women to tell about their own
encounters with sexually harassing behavior-both in private and in public."
This case gave women a reason to report sexual harassment, and sexual harassment
would no longer be overlooked. Women would no .....

Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Number of words: 1481 | Number of pages: 6.... That is why the media never
covers anything like this. We all know that they really don't care about
anything else except for a hot topic. The truth really does not mean anything
to them. This we notice in all the cases that the media jumps to wrongful
conclusions, such as the Richard Jewel case and the Olympic bombing and the TWA
flight 800 that blew up over New York. The media jumped to numerous conclusions
that had us lost. Do you think these people worry about what fund raiser
Michael Jordan attended and about what Shaquille O'Neal did on Thanksgiving for
the needy? No. They are more interested in what color Dennis Rod .....

Mothers And Daughters Relationships
Number of words: 700 | Number of pages: 3.... has a closed relationship, where the elders must be respected at all times. However, the daughters in the stories have a similarity.
Culture plays an important aspect in revealing the relationships within a family. In Maara Haas’s short story, the culture of the daughter and mother is Ukrainian. This is shown throughout the story by cultural beliefs, customs, and comments made by the mother “Me Ukrainian off da boat” (Haas, 201). In the other story by Anne Jew, the mother and daughter are of a strict Chinese heritage. The story begins with an introduction to some of the beliefs in the Chinese the culture to set the stage fo .....

Pressures Of Society
Number of words: 565 | Number of pages: 3.... you do something that you know you don't want just because
someone is forcing you. Marty showed such behavior many times throughout the
play. It was not always a conscious decision every time that Marty did what he
did, he based many of his decisions just on what his friends and family told him.
It is this play that made me think, that our decisions and choices are based on
what we think just as much as what others think. It is not always your choice
and it is not always what you want that you do. For example I am writing this
essay because someone told me so, and it is not my choice either to do it or not,
I can decide .....

Overpopulation
Number of words: 434 | Number of pages: 2.... the continous production of adequate food supply is directly dependent on land, water, and energy. As the population increases, so does the amount of resources needed. Even though they are not depleted, they are declining at a significant rate because they are divided by such a large number.
Fertile cropland is also a big concern. The world's cropland per capita has been declining, the shortages of croplands combined with decreasing land productivity is a major reason why there is food shortages and human malnutrition. Fossil energy is another major resource used in food production. Intensive farming technologies of many deve .....

Moral And Ethical Dilemmas
Number of words: 1975 | Number of pages: 8.... friends faced with similar dilemmas may not be helpful. Often you
feel pressured by piers that say, "it's no big deal", or "you'll understand
later". It's important that I understand why a particular action or resolution
is correct or incorrect. If I can't or don't it's difficult to feel I've been
honest with myself. That for me can be a good measure of ethical behavior, my
conscience.
The ideal way to deal with difficult questions is to have a foolproof
formula. Find steps that will always lead to correct decisions. Unfortunately
I do not yet have such a formula and often learn by hard experience right and
wrong. Let me s .....

The Media
Number of words: 452 | Number of pages: 2.... should be the tribe's leader that should have to get the tribe out of
trouble in any way that he could. It is not our business to send them our money
to get food for the people that got themselves into trouble, but I think it
makes people feel good to donate things to needy people. I just think that the
media isn't telling people the whole story. Maybe the starving people spent all
their money on drugs? I doubt that many people would send their hard earned
cash if they knew that the person was just going to buy more drugs with it.
I think that the media has been messing up stories and opinions, but
I'm sure that they did some go .....

Feminism
Number of words: 681 | Number of pages: 3.... married at a young age. A man to
take care of their needs, but did they really?
With that question, I bring about the topic of feminism. Were
women totally unparalell then with today's working woman? A question
often asked, but never really dissolved. My point in tact would be women
were basically the same emotionally, but had a greater demand to be
socially and politically correct. In doing so, men were predominant with
their wives. The goal of the female then being fulfilled and socially
constituted with means of constructivism.
Gladys Bell brought about many questions of her time and somewhat
enabled subjugat .....

Do We Need Protection In Our Schools?
Number of words: 461 | Number of pages: 2.... a big mistake. Condoms would be sold in our schools. Maybe they won’t be sold in public but they will be available in our schools. The selling of condoms in school will provide a way to protect themselves.
Another form of protection for our schools is actual police officers and metal detectors in the schools. Kids now a day have so many issues and problems in their lives. Kids are being killed all over America because these schools just don't think it will happen to them. They are just totally caught off guard when it happens right in their face. We must be ready and we have to anticipate what could possibly come. Metal detector .....

Children Are Easily Influenced
Number of words: 420 | Number of pages: 2.... boys are
easily deceived. Girls, on the other hand, are more cautious. Even when
girls are young, they are still weary of trusting people they don't know.
There are, of course, exceptions to every rule.
Finally, kids are most influenced by their parents and their
friends. Because friends and family members are people that kids trust,
they tend to want to be like them. Parents play a big role in a child's
life. If a kid sees his/her parents fight all the time at home, it will
probably make the child violent or secluded. If a kid hears his friends
cuss all the time, then he/she will probably start cussing too. If a chil .....
