The island that the boys unwillingly crashed upon seemed at first, to be a paradise, but as both the nature of the island and the nature of man got aquatinted, the idea of it being a paradise started to change. In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, evil is found frequently in a many different forms, such as the savage ways of Jack Merridew, the unknown darkness of the island that bring forth fear into the hearts of the boys, the nature of the boys, and the destructiveness of the fire.
