These two short stories: “Araby,” by James Joyce; and “A Rose for Emily,” by William Faulkner; conclude in a way that would leave the reader thinking. In “Araby” my initial view of the young boy was reinforced by the ending, however in “A Rose for Emily” my view of Miss Emily was left changed in many ways depending on how I looked at the ending.
