The Jets immediately hate the Sharks because they are different and vice versa. The two gangs’ hatred is brought to a public level at a dance the same night as the first fight. During the dance, sparks fly between the sister of the leader of the Sharks, Maria, played by Natalie Wo .....

The L.A. police of the time and even today are feared for their police state style tactics. Star Trek was always on the verge of being laughable, long underwear style costumes, and fake monsters, and plaster planets. This changed with Star Trek the Motion Picture made by Paramount after Star Wars hit big. Trekkies might whine about the superiority and "science" of the Star Trek but before Star Wars they were reduced to watching Captain Kirk wrestling .....

The attack on Iwo Jima alone has cost us 25000 casualties and nearly 7000 deaths, a rather high price to pay for an eight-square-mile island. Okinawa cost us even more, we received 50000 casualties while the Japanese suffered 100000. Too many American lives have already been lost with just the acquirement of two islands, it is not worth it to keep fighting like this any longer. If the bomb is dropped, no American lives will be lost. If America keeps fighting for these islands, scores of American troops will die. Japan will serve as an example to .....

.... to enter West Point Edgar published a book entitled "Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane, and minor poems", this time the book was published, not anonymously, but under the name Edgar A. Poe, where the middle initial acknowledged John Allan's name. Before Edgar left West Point he received financial aid from his fellow cadets to publish a third edition of the book. Edgar called it a second edition though and it was entitled "Poems by Edgar A. Poe" in which his famous poems "To Helen" (another version was published in 1848) and "Israfel" appeared.
